The Lincoln Community School (LCS) is a private, nonprofit, college preparatory day school which offers educational programs from pre-school (age 3) through grade 12. The School, established in 1968, is located in the cosmopolitan West African city of Accra. The school is developing into a center of excellence in the region, with strong professional development programs for its teachers and serving as a regional site for teacher workshops. The school year comprises 4 quarters extending from August 15 to October 10, October 22 to December 14, January 8 to March 14 and March 17 to June 13.

Organization: The School is governed by a 9-member Board of Directors. Members of the Lincoln Community School's Parent Association elect 6 directors for a two-year term and three directors are appointed by the U.S. Ambassador.

Curriculum: The School is international in both population (50+ nations represented) and philosophy with an emphasis on inquiry and problem solving. It is designed to be appropriately challenging, and to allow a smooth transition into other international schools. LCS is an IB World School, authorized to offer all three levels of the International Baccalaureate program. These three levels of the IB Program guide the curriculum: the Primary Years Program (PS-grade 5), the Middle Years Program (grade 6-10) and the IB Diploma Program (grades 11-12). Special classes in art, music, physical education, theater, technology and French are offered. English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Learning Support Services are available, but families who may need these programs are advised to consult with the Registrar about possible limitations. LCS is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and schools and the International Baccalaureate Organization. It is a member of both the Council of International Schools and the Association of International Schools in Africa.

Faculty: In the 2007-2008 school year, there are 68 international educators from 15 countries, many with advanced degrees and all qualified to teach in their assigned subject areas. Classes are normally limited to 20 students. There are also teaching assistants in all elementary school grade levels and in several secondary school subject areas.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, enrollment was 573 students from 54 different countries.

Facilities: School facilities are air conditioned with 63 classrooms including 3 art rooms, 4 science labs, 3 technology labs, 2 music rooms, a visual and performing arts center, junior and senior school libraries, an early childhood center, a world language center and office space for guidance and administration. Sports facilities include a multipurpose hall, playground, a multipurpose court, a climbing wall, 2 fields and a semi-Olympic swimming pool, a large gymnasium, a stage, and dressing room facilities. Playground space includes 2 grassy playing fields, 2 sandy fields with recreational apparatus and a large playground with a multipurpose court. Lincoln Gardens was developed and maintained by LCS students.

Finances: In the 2007-2008 school year, the School's income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PS: $4,200; PK: $7,000; Kdg.-grade 5: $11,450; grades 6-8: $12,550; grades 9-10: $13,650; and grades 11-12: $14,150.
