2007-2008

The QSI International School of Ljubljana is an independent, coeducational, day school founded in 1995. The School offers an educational program from PK (3 & 4 year-old class) through grade 12 (secondary IV) for students of all nationalities. The school year is comprised of 3 terms extending from August 30 to December 12, from January 7 to March 28, and from April 7 to June 20.

Organization: The School is governed by the Board of Directors of Quality Schools International, the membership of which is formed as set forth in the Bylaws of Quality Schools International. An Advisory Board, composed of 6 to 10 members who reside in Ljubljana, assists the School in its operation. The School is registered under Slovene Law with the cooperation of the Slovene Government.

Curriculum: The School offers a mastery learning approach to well-defined learner outcomes for each age level. The curriculum is similar to that of U.S. public and private schools with the English language as the medium of instruction. Classroom instruction, leading to individual mastery of each outcome, takes advantage of a well organized curriculum, small classes and the application of modern technology across the curriculum. Slovene culture is included in our cultural studies curriculum. The School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Faculty: In the 2007-2008 school year, there are 8 full-time faculty members. Technology is taught by a part-time computer teacher and music is taught by a part-time music teacher.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, enrollment was 40.

Facilities: The School operates in a new facility with daily access to a full-sized gymnasium, indoor tennis courts and softball fields, all located on the grounds of the school. A forested park-like area surrounds the school, giving it the feel of the countryside, yet the school is located inside the city of Ljubljana.

Finances: In the 2007-2008 school year, 98% of the School's income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: PK (half day): $5,000; (full day) $6,000; and Kdg.-grade 12: $14,500. The School also charges a capital fund fee of $1,600 per student and a one-time registration fee of $100. (No capital fund fee is charged for the PK program.) These fees are payable in U.S. dollars. Discounts up to $500 per student are available for early payment of fees. (All fees are quoted in U.S. dollars.)
