The American School of The Hague is an independent, coeducational day school, which offers a university-preparatory, U. S. style educational program from Kdg 1 through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. The School was founded in 1953. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from mid-August to mid-June.

Organization: The School is governed by a Board of Trustees, elected for 3-year terms by the parents of students enrolled.

Curriculum: Instruction is in English. The U. S.-based, college preparatory program includes differentiation throughout the Elementary and Middle Schools and the Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate Programs in the High School. The School can accommodate a limited number of students with mild learning differences or disabilities. The learning support offered is complementary to the mainstream classroom. French, Dutch, German, and Spanish are offered as second languages. There is no religious instruction. A broad program of extracurricular activities is offered. The School is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Council of International Schools.

Faculty: In the 2007-2008 school year, there are 112 full-time and 31 part-time faculty members. 

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, enrollment was 1,060 (Kdg.1-grade 4: 335; grades 5-8: 345; and grades 9-13: 380).

Facilities: The School building, a wireless-networked, single-unit campus, features over 80 instructional areas, 9 science labs, 10 dedicated and mobile computer labs, 5 music and movement classrooms, rooms for art, photography and multi-media, 4 gymnasia and a double Sport Hall, a 380-seat theatre, 3 libraries and two 300-seat cafeterias. The 11 acre campus includes age-appropriate playgrounds and soccer and baseball fields.

Finances: In the 2007-2008 school year, about 96% of the School's income derives from tuition. Annual tuition rates are as follows: Kdg I (half day): €7,900; Kdg II (long day): €14,650; Kdg II (short day)-grade 4: €13,000; grades 5-8: €14,850; grades 9-13: €15,800. In addition, there is a one-time enrollment fee of €3,stoc00 and an annual capital levy fee of €2,200 per year. (All fees are quoted in euros.)
