Recall Request of Dental Toothpaste Made in China due to Possible Risks to the Health

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Carolina, Puerto Rico -- June 8, 2007 -- Pitusa, National Lumber, Everything To Weight, Supermarkets and Supermarkets Pitusa of Carolina, Puerto Rico, is asking for return to our stores of all dental toothpaste of origin “Made in China” in the following sizes: large 6.4 oz with dental brush, 1.76 ounces with brush and 50 grams for children with dental brush, that has been acquired in anyone of our stores in all Puerto Rico since this dental toothpaste has the possibility of being contaminated with poisonous chemical agents like diethylene glycol (DEG) also known like diglycol or “diglycol stearate”.

These dental toothpastes could be acquired in any one of our stores in Puerto Rico. The Food and Drug Administration (F.D.A.) is not aware of any report of poisoning caused by dental toothpaste not containing (DEG) diglycol 0 diglycol stearate. But the FDA is worried on potential risks that dyglycol or dyglycol could be caused by chronic exposition to DEG, diglycol or diglycol stearate and the exposition to these chemicals in certain populations like children and individuals with kidneys and the liver disease.

These dental toothpaste chemicals have a low but significant risk of toxicity and damages to these populations. The dental toothpaste is not designed to ingested or swallow, but the F.D.A. is worried about people who can ingest or swallow the dental toothpaste without intention.

The appearance of the product is a dental toothpaste tube package in individual cardboard box multicolor with a dental brush in the superior part that is visible to traverse of the plastic window and in cardboard packing to hang (Blister pack).

The marks under which these dental pastes were sold are Dentakleen, BrightMax, DentaPro, and Dentakleen Junior. The flavors are Fresh Spearmint, Cool Peppermint, Freshmint, Strawberry and Blue Berry.

We ask for the consumers who have in their power any of these dental toothpastes to returned them immediately within next the 30 days to any of our stores, we will reimburse the total cost of the product. It is not necessary the receipt of purchase.
