My husband is blind and is able to travel without my help, with only the use of his cane. He does not need, nor want, audible crossing signals. This is just another insident of the sighted trying to tell the blind what they need. The blind are more than capable of talking for themselves and I think you'll find most of them are very much against audible signals.
