ESRL/PSD Seminar Series
NOTE: Special Monday Seminar
Governing the carbon balance: Land use, decision making, and opportunities for usable science
Lisa Dilling, University of Colorado at Boulder
Abstract
One of the proposed strategies for mitigating climate change is the deliberate management of land vegetation to store carbon. This concept has been promoted at a wide range of scales, from the international treaty to the individual land owner here in Colorado. This talk will identify some of the issues involved in thinking about carbon governance on land, describe a current research project looking at local decision making, and discuss implications for providing useful science for carbon management in the future.
