JGI Data Release Policy
Eukaryote Projects
The JGI Standard Policy for Eukaryotic Projects is immediate release, which includes the following:
- All trace files will be deposited to the NCBI Trace Archive as they become available.
- Draft assemblies that have met a set of quality evaluation criteria will be posted on the public JGI web site and GenBank.
- Preliminary automated annotation will be posted on the JGI web site once a set of quality evaluation criteria have been met, and JGI will start gathering manual annotation inputs from collaborators.
- Finishing or other value-added data will be incorporated as it becomes available.
In exceptional cases, where significant time or expense are required to obtain the starting materials, certain projects will follow the data release policy below:
- All trace files will be deposited to the NCBI Trace Archive six months from completion of the draft annotation.
- Draft assemblies that have met a set of quality evaluation criteria will be posted on the public JGI web site.
- Preliminary automated annotation will be posted on the JGI web site once a set of quality evaluation criteria have been met, and JGI will start gathering manual annotation inputs from collaborators.
- Six months after the initial public release, draft assembly with improved annotation will be released on the public JGI web site and submitted to GenBank.
- Finishing or other value-added data will be incorporated as it becomes available in a timely fashion, but no sooner than six months following draft annotation.
Prokaryote and Metagenome Projects
- All trace files will be deposited to the NCBI Trace Archive six months from completion of the draft annotation.
- Draft assemblies that have met a set of quality evaluation criteria will be posted on the public JGI web site.
- Preliminary automated annotation will be posted on the JGI web site once a set of quality evaluation criteria have been met, and JGI will start gathering manual annotation inputs from collaborators.
- Six months after the initial public release, draft assembly with improved annotation will be released on the public JGI web site and submitted to GenBank.
- Finishing or other value-added data will be incorporated as it becomes available in a timely fashion, but no sooner than six months following draft annotation.
