Effective Tuesday, September 2, 2008, the NIH will implement new parking policies impacting employees and visitors including: when parking attendants are on duty; where attendant (stack) parking is available; after-hours key pick-up procedures; and, metered parking at various lots on the NIH main campus.
Some of these changes will amount to a decrease in overall stack parking, but should be offset by visitor lots converting to employee parking on campus. All visitor parking with the exception of patient/patient visitor parking and metered spaces will eventually transfer to the new MLP-11 Gateway Center parking garage.
Please Note: Once these changes go into effect, they will be included on the NIH Employee Campus Map (http://parking.nih.gov/employee_access_map.htm) and the NIH Visitor Map (http://parking.nih.gov/visitor_access_map.htm). Attendants will also hand out brochures at the parking lots detailing these changes. All times mentioned below are for WEEKDAY services, not including holidays.
EMPLOYEE PARKING CHANGES:
MLP-6 (Multi-Level Parking Garage 6)
- Attendant on Duty: 7am - 6pm
- Assisted Parking: Stack parking available until 6pm
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: After 6pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to
MLP-11 (the new Gateway Visitor garage. MLP-11 closes at 11pm on weekdays; closed on weekends)
MLP-7 (Multi-Level Parking Garage 7)
- Attendant on Duty: 7am to 4pm
- Assisted Parking: Stack parking available until 4pm
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: After 4pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to
MLP-11 (the new Gateway Visitor garage. MLP-11 closes at 11pm on weekdays; closed on weekends)
MLP-8 (Multi-Level Parking Garage 8)
- Attendant on Duty: 7am - 6pm
- Assisted Parking: Stack parking available until 6pm
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: After 6pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to
MLP-11 (the new Gateway Visitor garage. MLP-11 closes at 11pm on weekdays; closed on weekends)
* NOTE: The visitor parking in MLP-8 will revert to employee general parking.
This will add an additional 125 self-park spaces and 27 stacked spaces for employees.
MLP-9 (Multi-Level Parking Garage 9)
- Attendant on Duty: 7am - 6pm
- Assisted Parking: Stack parking available until 6pm
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: After 6pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to
MLP-11 (the new Gateway Visitor garage. MLP-11 closes at 11pm on weekdays; closed on weekends)
MLP-10/Lot 31B (Multi-Level Parking Garage 10 and Building 31B Parking Lot)
- Attendant on Duty: 7am - 6pm
- Assisted Parking: Handicap valet parking ONLY until 6pm
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: After 6pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to
MLP-11 (the new Gateway Visitor garage. MLP-11 closes at 11pm on weekdays; closed on weekends)
Natcher Building Garage
- No attendant on duty
- Assisted Parking: Self Park only; No stack parking
- After-Hours Key Pick-Up: Not applicable
Lot 45A (Located in front of Building 64)
- No attendant on duty
- Assisted Parking: Self Park only; No stack parking
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: Not applicable
* NOTE: The visitor parking in Lot 45A will revert to employee general parking.
This will add an additional 60 self-park spaces for employees.
Lot 10H (Located on the south side of Building 10)
- No attendant on duty
- Assisted Parking: Self park only; No stack parking
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: Not applicable
Building 10 Garage P-2 Level:
- No attendant on duty
- Assisted Parking: Self park only; No stack parking
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: Not applicable
Building 10 Garage P-3 Level:
- No attendant on duty
- Assisted Parking: Self park only; No stack parking
- After-Hours Key Pick-up: Not applicable
After Hours Key Pick-Up for Employees
Employees utilizing the Attendant Assisted (Stack) parking services MUST pick up their keys while an attendant is on duty. Once the attendant leaves, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to the New Gateway Visitor Garage (MLP-11).
MLP-11 hours of operation are 6 am - 11 pm (Monday - Friday, except holidays).
Keys unclaimed after 11pm from MLP-11 will be returned to the parking garage where the vehicle is parked and can be picked up the following business day during normal operating hours. After 11pm, you will not be able to pick up your vehicle until the next weekday.

PATIENT/PATIENT VISITOR/VISITOR PARKING CHANGES:
Metered Parking:
The NIH will be moving most non-Clinical Center visitor parking to the MLP-11 parking garage at the new Gateway Center. In turn, the NIH will be increasing the number of metered parking spaces on campus from approximately 75 today to 130 in the near future.
Metered parking is available in Lots 13C, 16A, 30, 31A, 31B, 38A and 45.
Building 10 Garage P-1 Level:
- Attendant on Duty: 6am - 7pm
- Assisted Parking: Stack parking available until 7pm
- After-Hours Key Pick up: After 7pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to the Clinical Center Admissions Desk inside the Clinical Research Center (CRC) of Building 10
Patient Valet:
- Attendant on duty: 7am – 7pm
- Vehicles will be parked in the P-1 Garage or Lot 10E
- After-Hours Key Pick Up: After 7pm, all unclaimed keys will be transferred to the Clinical Center Admissions Desk inside the Clinical Research Center (CRC) of Building 10
