2.0 Site Status Summary

The reactor is currently in SAFSTOR. All fuel has been removed from the ship. The Nuclear Ship (NS) Savannah has been removed from the Maritime Administration Reserve Fleet in the James River, Virginia. On May 31, 2007, the N.S. SAVANNAH was shifted from Newport News, VA to Norfolk, VA. The vessel is now layberthed in Norfolk, VA. Because the reactor is portable, the location of decommissioning has not been determined.

Removed from service 1970. Fuel removed from ship October 1971.
