The ship's divers are getting ready to enter the water on the starboard side of the forward well deck. On this particular dive, they are clearing fouling from the bowthruster propeller and locating the bilge pump overboard discharge for reference to upcoming inport repairs. Diving operations are conducted on the Oregon II to maintain the condition of the ship's hull, fittings, and transducers; to remove fishing gear from the shaft; to assist in the calibration of acoustic equipment; and to assist in scientific diving purposes such as sea grass surveying, trawlable reef deployment, etc.
