Buoy Deployment

Deploying a weather buoy from the fantail of the Gordon Gunter. A successful deployment.

The photos above show the deployment of a weather buoy from the fantail of the GORDON GUNTER. Weather buoys are deployed throughout the Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, and Caribbean Sea. The weather buoys transmit data to the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) located at Stennis Space Center. The buoys aid in the prediction of weather systems in the area. This buoy was deployed in 4710 feet of water, 133 nautical miles south-southwest of Belle Pass, LA.
