Performing Activity Marin Research Institute
Principal Investigator Arjan Voogt
Contracting Agency Minerals Management Service
Estimated Completion December 2009
Description
The objective of this study is to:

1. Extend the database of wave statistics,
2. Capture storm and loop current events and analyze TLP response to these events,
3. Assess occurrence of riser and tendon VIV events.

This study serves to provide a two-year extension of work initiated under TAR Study 564 and includes:

1. Monitoring - The measurements on board the Marco Polo TLP will be extended for a period of 2 years, ending in November 2009. The data collected by the monitoring system will be analyzed and reported to the JIP Participants.

2. Data Analysis - From this long term statistical overview events will be selected for a more detailed short term analysis. This short term analysis will include statistics, spectral analysis, calculation of transfer functions and distributions as required. This data analysis will be directed specifically to the design issues. The choice of these events, as well as the analysis methods and procedures, will be decided in close co-operation with the JIP participants and may be refined or augmented when required by the results.
Progress Phase II work began in January 2008.
