Description The Qualifying New Technology Workshop was held in October 2002 and focused on 1) Discuss requirements and processes to qualify new technologies, 2) Develop a methodology and process that could lead to a mutually acceptable plan to MMS and Oil Industry stakeholders.
Progress

Workshop was successful in developing a consensus on a recommended plan and course of action.

Conclusion:

An API Recommended Practice is needed by the regulatory agencies of new technology proposed for use in deepwater projects. Certain aspects of this workshop had been incorporated in later research projects related to the structural and mooring domains.
