Subject Survey of SCADA System Technology and Reliability in the Oil and Gas Industry

Description This project will 1) survey the current state of SCADA technology; 2) assess the reliability of current SCADA technology; and 3) recommend MMS policy changes for operators that use SCADA systems.
Progress PI met with District personnel in Lafayette, LA in December 1999 to discuss MMS regulations and operator usage of SCADA. A preliminary report of survey results was presented to the GOM Region in February 2000 and a final presentation of findings was made in August 2000. The project was completed in November, 2000.
