Subject API Benchmark Structure
Performing Activity PMB Engineering
Principal Investigator Dan Dolan
Contracting Agency Minerals Management Service

Description This is a Joint Industry Project (JIP). The purpose of this project was to develop a procedure using the results obtained from the initial project for the ultimate strength analysis of offshore steel-jacket platforms.
Progress An example of the structural modeling and application of API RP2A Section 17 process was developed. This can be used by engineers to become more familiar with the process and verify software accuracy. This application uses a single 4-leg jacket Gulf of Mexico drilling/production platform. The platform is located in 157 feet of water. The report includes all of the information that needed for a complete assessment of the platform.
