Project Number 129
Date of Summary March 31, 1991
Subject Methodology for Comparison of Alternative Production Systems
Performing Activity Amoco Production Company
Principal Investigator Dr. Bernard Stahl
Contracting Agency Minerals Management Service
Estimated Completion Complete
Description The objective was to develop and apply a methodology for comparison of alternative production systems. While the methodology will be applied in this project to two configurations of a tension leg platform (TLP), it will be applicable to any comparative analysis of alternatives. The methodology is intended to be an engineering procedure that will assist in the process of making rational comparisons. The project will make use of recent developments in structural systems reliability and fill-scope risk assessment; and will merge technologies residing in the United States with those residing in Europe. The interactions between the topside systems and the structural systems will be addressed, including consideration of all possible hazards to operations, e.g., those involving the well systems and equipment and the environment.
Progress Complete.
