Description The objective was to review and develop a `new` philosophy towards the underwater inspection process and to provide detailed guidance on the best available techniques and current limits of present day technology. This was a Joint Industry Project (JIP) composed of fifteen companies, the U.K. Department of Energy, and the Minerals Management Service. The objectives of the project are

(1) to provide a forum to discuss and develop a cogent philosophy for the underwater inspection of offshore installations and

(2) to prepare detailed guidelines for an inspection methodology.
