Can businesses like mine actually use the Economic Census? Yes! Here are some examples.

You Can Help Promote the 2007 Economic Census

In December, millions of businesses across America received an Economic Census form. You can tell them how their efforts will help your community or your industry — and their business.

To have an impact, information about the Economic Census needs to reach business people in as many different ways and as often as possible from now through February.

  • Write an article. Use drop-in text, or use these story ideas to develop your own article. Make your message persuasive with a sample editorial.

  • Include a Public Service Ad. Download images from the 2007 PSA page. If someone else makes the advertising decisions, pass this page to them.

  • E-mail your members. Alert your members that, if they haven't filed yet, their forms are overdue. Make your message persuasive.

  • Link to business.census.gov. Make a short statement and give your users this link for more information.
  • Display a Census graphic. Use one of the graphic PSAs, logos, or images at the web graphics page, and link it to business.census.gov.

  • Make a statement. Ask your CEO to make a public statement endorsing the Economic Census because of its benefits to your industry or community. Issue a press release or write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper.

  • Talk about the Economic Census. When making presentations to your business members, hand out copies the brochure Your Business and the 2007 Economic Census (pdf).
