Virginia believes in a new twist on an old adage: Communication, communication, communication! Good internal communication is essential to an effective agency, and quality external communication is essential to building credibility with the public and ensuring that NIH research is useful. That’s why Virginia has chosen to focus her PMF experience on communication and public affairs.

Virginia, known as Ginny to most of her friends, has worked in the NIH Office of Management; the NHLBI Office of Strategic and Innovative Programs; SAMHSA’s Center for Mental Health Services, Office of Consumer Affairs; and NIDA’s Management Analysis Branch and the Office of Communications and Science Policy. She has a passion for working with the public and making a positive impact on the community. She describes herself as energetic, hard working, organized, and conscientious.

Virginia Hill earned her Master of Social Work degree from Louisiana State University. After spending two years as a clinical Social Worker in Baton Rouge, LA during the wake of Hurricane Katrina, her commitment and passion for helping others was strengthened. Virginia applied for the Presidential Management Fellows program in order to affect change through government work with leadership, policy, and outreach.
