Description

This is a joint industry project (JIP) on FPSO roll actions/re-actions. This project provides a theoretical approach for the reduction of roll motions of FPSO's. The following tasks have been identified.

  1. Monitoring in-situ-roll behaviors of existing FPSO's in relation to the environmental conditions;

  2. Physical and numerical modeling;

  3. Investigation into design and devices to minimize roll.

Progress The project achieved significant improvements in the application of the COMFLOW type computer models. It will implement new theoretical concepts for FPSO vessel design. The new concept can analyze the most hazardous FPSO movements and the suggested technological solutions to reduce them during the loading/off-loading work phases. Proprietary data will not be published on the MMS public website until 2011.
