PAYMENTS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES

This is a tool to find out if you can receive your Social Security payment if you are planning to be outside the United States for six consecutive calendar months or more and:

  1. You currently receive Title II Social Security Disability payments, or
  2. You currently receive Title II Social Security Retirement payments.

This tool does not apply to the following:

  1. Persons receiving survivor or dependant benefits,
  2. Persons receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits,
  3. Persons deported or removed,
  4. Persons receiving Special Veterans Benefits; or
  5. Persons who are stateless or refugees.

This tool does not:

  • Allow you to apply for benefits,
  • Allow you to report changes,
  • Know or ask for your Social Security number; or
  • Access your personal Social Security records.

If you have questions about your individual claim and you are in the United States, please call or visit your local Social Security office. If you are outside the United States, see our list of Contacts for Services outside the U.S.

Have you been or do you intend to be outside the United States (the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa or the Northern Mariana Islands) for six consecutive calendar months or more?
