Office of Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP)

Injuries

There are two classifications of injuries:

  • Traumatic Injuries
    • Caused by a single event
    • Occurred during one work shift
    • Use form CA-1
    • Medical Care–Form CA-16
  • Occupational Disease
    • Caused by multiple events
    • Occurred during more than one work shift
    • Use form CA-2 along with appropriate checklist


Employees are required to:

  • Immediately report all job-related injuries or illness to your immediate supervisor.
  • Complete all required injury forms timely.
  • Provide all information requested by the Agency and OWCP promptly.
  • Immediately report any change in medical condition or restrictions to your supervisor and/or OWCP contact person.
  • Advise your physician if light/limited duty is available that is in line with work restrictions caused by your injury.
  • Cooperate with the agency and OWCP in their efforts to identify appropriate alternative employment and/or reasonable accommodation.
