Agnews Developmental Center Closure

The closure of the Agnews Developmental Center (Agnews) represents a significant deinstitutionalization initiative grounded in the development of sufficient community capacity with new service and support options that provide meaningful choices and reliable services to support the transition of Agnews residents into the community. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) will continue working closely with its state and local partners throughout the closure of Agnews – both to ensure the health and safety of each resident in the transition process, and to provide access to the necessary services and supports, in accordance with each consumer’s needs and preferences.
