Standard Review Plans and Associated Review
Standards
NRC has a number of standard review plans for staff use in reviewing
proposed licensing actions. These actions may relate to constructing or
operating a nuclear facility or to possessing or using nuclear materials.
For nuclear power plants, NRC has a comprehensive standard review plan
(NUREG-0800). For more recent types of licensing actions, NRC developed
the Review Standard as an adjunct to NUREG-0800 for staff use in
the review of licensing applications for early site permits and expanded
power uprates. The sections listed in a Review Standard reference either
a section in NUREG-0800 or in the "Standard Review Plan for
Environmental Reviews for Nuclear Power Plants" (NUREG-1555).
If either of these publications lacks a section on a new topic to be reviewed, the staff adds a new section for the topic.
