Greece and Palau Join Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism

The Governments of Greece and Palau have announced their decisions to become partner nations of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (Global Initiative).

At the most recent meeting of the Global Initiative in Ankara, Turkey, on February 12-13, 2007, partner nations emphasized the importance of increasing partnership and participation by nations committed to combating nuclear terrorism.

Greece, Palau, and partner nations will meet again in Kazakhstan in June 2007 to review the progress of Global Initiative activities, to address gaps in implementation, and to welcome new partner nations.

The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism calls upon states to expand and accelerate partnership capacity to combat nuclear terrorism on a determined and systematic basis. All Global Initiative partner nations share the common goals of the Initiative, are actively committed to combating nuclear terrorism, and endorse the Statement of Principles.
