Alternative Fueling Station Locator Help

Basic Station Search

  • Enter Search Criteria

First, select one or more fuel types; then enter a complete address or zip code. The more complete the address, the better the geocoded results will be. You cannot do a state search in the Basic Station Search tab. To do that, you must choose the Advanced Options tab to search by state. You can adjust the radius to be any distance up to 500 miles; the default is 25 miles. Once your selections have been made, click on Get Results.

  • Reviewing Results

A text version of your results will appear in the left-hand bar. The Distance figure shows the distance of the station from the location entered in the search. Only the top 10 results that are closest to the search location will be shown at a time. At the bottom of the left-hand column is a guide to take you to additional screens for additional results. You may select the station name or click on an icon on the map to view station details. You may also select the descriptive bubble on the map to get driving directions. You will be taken to a new screen and a default starting point (the original search location) will be provided. You may change the starting location at this point.

The fuel icons identify the types of fuel provided at each station. The legend is part of the initial fuel pick list to help you identify the types of fuels offered by the stations (some may carry more than one fuel). In these cases, the station is listed multiple times in the left-hand column, each time with the appropriate fuel icon next to it. The map will only show one icon since the icons will be stacked on top of each other in these cases.

  • Printing Results

The top-left corner of the tool features a Printable Version button. If you select this button at any time, a printer-friendly version of the tool will appear. All of the results of the search will appear in a table under a map. The entire search results will be printed, not just the 10 stations you may see at the time you select the button.

Map a Route

  • Enter Search Criteria

First, select one or more fuel types, then enter a starting address and an ending address. The more complete the address, the better the geocoded results will be. After you make your selections, click Get Results to view the stations located along your route.

  • Reviewing Results

Based on your search criteria, a route will be drawn on the map and driving directions will appear in the left-hand column. The stations along the route will appear on the map by the appropriate fuel icon. If you select one of the icons, the station details bubble will appear and display the station name, address, and other details.

  • Printing Results

When the Printable Version button in the top-left corner is selected, a print-friendly version of the map and directions is shown. No station details are visible in this print version, just the route directions and map.

Advanced Options

  • Enter Search Criteria

The Advanced Options tab search by address, state, or route. You can also narrow your search in a variety of ways using station status refined search criteria. To do so, select one or more fuel types, then select the way you want to conduct your search (complete address, state, or route). The only way to get an accurate state search is to use the Advanced Options feature. Next, enter the station status refined search criteria. All Stations is the default, but you may also search for just public, private, or planned stations. If you select Private, additional options (private, federal, state, or local) appear to refine the search even further. In addition, you can search by payment type.
