Service in the Heartland

For 72 years, the Social Security Administration has ranked among the premier agencies in government for exemplary public service and a “can do” spirit. As the most successful domestic program in our Nation’s history, Social Security is fundamental to economic security, contributing to the basic well-being, health and quality of life of the American people. For beneficiaries, family members, neighbors, or taxpayers, the presence of Social Security is the foundation for a basic standard of living for the community and the nation.

Social Security impacts nearly everyone’s life. Whether assigning a Social Security number to a newborn infant, providing a Social Security check for a retired worker, or issuing payments to the survivors of deceased family members, Social Security touches the lives of more Americans than any other federal program.

Our mission is to advance the economic security of the nation’s people through compassionate and vigilant leadership in shaping and managing America’s Social Security programs. In the Kansas City Region, we help support this mission by striving to provide you with respectful, responsive and reliable service every time you contact us, and no matter how you choose to conduct business with us. Our goal is to provide the same high level of service to everyone who visits us in field offices, calls us on the phone, writes to us or contacts us online.

I am honored to serve the American people and work with such a fine group of dedicated employees. In the Heartland we are committed to maintaining this high level of service and invite you to provide us with your feedback on how you think we can improve our service to you.
