Troubleshooting

A list of known errors that could occur while using the TAO Real-time Data Access pages.

Due to the amount of JavaScript used, the TAO realtime data display pages were created to work the Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.x and higher browsers. Both these browsers are available as free downloads over the Internet.

1.

JavaScript errors if user clicks on form elements before page has completely loaded.

(All operating systems)

This is caused by event handlers (fired by the user clicking on form elements) calling JS methods of objects that have not yet been completely loaded. This is a problem inherent in the way browsers currently download and render pages.

Solution: Reload the page, and wait until the "warning sign" in the blue banner of the page has disappeared before clicking away.

2.

"Section plot" button clicked, but page not loaded.

(NS4.5 for Mac.)

Not sure what causes this problem - suspect it is a NS Mac bug. This also causes the "help" and "home" buttons not to work.

Solution: Reload page - and everything will work.
