An unknown male suspect, dubbed the "Chameleon Bandit," is suspected in the robbery of at least 11 banks in Pennsylvania since April of 2006. The majority of the robberies have occurred in Western Pennsylvania along Interstates 79 and 80. In general, the suspect casually enters the bank and furnishes a robbery note demanding money. He also threatens the use of a gun, but no weapon has been seen or displayed. In some robberies, he has been verbally abusive toward the tellers. The suspect may prefer Wednesday and Friday mornings to commit the robberies.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of this individual.
