NWS Drought Outlook Product Evaluation Workshop April 3, 2002, Kansas City, Missouri The National Weather Service targeted a workshop for customer feedback for the Climate Prediction Center's Drought Outlook product. We specifically wished to get feedback from:
regarding methods to improve the product, its format, and its delivery. This workshop was held April 3, 2002 at the NWS Training Facility in Kansas City, MO, room 128 (7220 N.W. 101st Terrace). Keynote speakers were include Doug Lecomte (CPC), Stan Changnon & Steve Sonka (University of Illinois), Joe Victor (Allendale, Inc.).

This will be an informal workshop where NWS listens to customers & partners to try to improve the Drought Outlook product. Feel free to leave the suit and tie at home.
The workshop was successfully conducted on April 3, 2002. Participants representing various aspects of agriculture, water, and political interests provided valuable feedback on the DO product. The April release of the DO incorporated some of those coments including a legend, direct links to the tools used to produce the DO, and a discussion of the uncertainty in those tools. Stay tuned for a write-up on the workshop and a list of changes to be made to the DO.
