INTERN RECRUITMENT

The Office of International Affairs (OIA) in the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is seeking volunteer (unpaid) graduate-level and undergraduate-level interns for ongoing projects. NTIA is part of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is the Executive Branch's principal voice on domestic and international telecommunications and information technology policy issues. As a part of NTIA, OIA formulates, articulates and implements policies to enhance competition in the global telecommunications sector. These policies are designed in consultation with U.S. commercial interests. OIA presents these policies before foreign ministerial officials, in multilateral entities (CITEL, APEC), in bilateral discussions, in policy summits (LATS, CATS), in intergovernmental entities (INTELSAT, ITU) and in special initiatives such as the G-8 DOT Force. BACKGROUNDS: We seek student interns with backgrounds in telecommunications, political science, public policy, economics, law, or engineering/technology policy. All students must hold U.S. citizenship and be currently enrolled in a university program to be qualified for an intern position.

TIMEFRAMES: Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters, Year-Round

PROJECTS: Dependent upon skill levels and interests, interns will perform research, writing, and other duties in the following topical or regional policy areas:
