Programs

APAICS hosts a variety of programs designed to increase the participation of APIAs in government and politics, and also to increase the effectiveness of APIAs already in office--thereby creating a pipeline for APIA leaders. Programs such as the APAICS' Internship, Fellowship, and Congressional Fellow programs, and the APAICS Leadership Academy are the building blocks of this pipeline and the main focus of APAICS. APAICS Internships place students in one of the following: the APAICS office, federal agencies, or Capitol Hill--all in the heart of Washington. APAICS Fellowships place graduate students on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies for a year of rigorous work as full-fledged staff members working directly with public policy. The APAICS Congressional Fellows program seeks to allow APIA-elected officials to shadow members of Congress--thereby gaining valuable insight into the federal government and the policy-making process. Finally, the APAICS Leadership Academy is a program for APIA elected officials--educating them on the skills required for success.
