IFUW
Fellowships and Grants
The
promotion of lifelong learning, especially for women
and girls, is one of IFUW's key priorities.
The 2008/2009 IFUW Fellows and Grantees
have been announced!
While
the numbers of women entering university now equals or exceeds
that of men in some countries, in other parts of the world
a university education is beyond the reach of most women.
For many women, a primary or secondary education remains
an unattainable dream. Even where parity at the level of
the first university degree has been achieved, there is
still a pyramid effect. The numbers of women begin to dwindle
dramatically in advanced degree courses and women are significantly
under-represented in many of the scientific and technological
fields that lead to the higher paying professions in today's
world.
IFUW
and its national affiliates help to build the future by
offering fellowships and grants
to enable women and girls to achieve their educational goals
IFUW international awards support postgraduate research,
study and training for women. The deadline for the 2008/2009 competition has passed. The next international competition will open in 2010.
National awards offered by IFUW
affiliates target all levels of education, from primary
and secondary education, to undergraduate studies and postgraduate
research, study and training.
These
are all made possible through the generous donations of
IFUW members and friends. Find out how you too can help
support the IFUW fellowships programme.
