Ballet
Under the Stars allows Arizona communities to enjoy dance in a
unique outdoor setting complete with a stage, lighting, costumes and
beautiful Arizona weather. The program ranges from the classical to the
contemporary and is fun for the whole family.
Audiences bring picnic dinners and
blankets or lawn chairs, and enjoy a family-friendly
performance of classical and contemporary dance under the direction of Ib
Anderson.
In addition to the regular programming, children from nearby grade schools
have the unique opportunity to create and choreograph a new dance work with
the guidance of a team of Ballet Arizona dancers. Ballet Arizona dancers
will spend several days working with the students to produce dances the
children present at Ballet Under the Stars.
This division of Ballet Arizona's Education
and Outreach Program is referred to as "Class Act." "Class Act" is a
project combining the talents and expertise of the professional dancers
of Ballet Arizona with the youthful ideas and creative energies of
school-age children. The creation of the new work includes the process
of choosing music, creating the choreography and finalizing the
performance to be presented in front of a live audience. |
