Projects in Construction Execution

 

CG Academy, CT:  CONSTRUCT CHASE HALL ANNEX E (PHASE I), (60-L8001), (D/B, $14,100K, FY06 AC&I:   99% construction completed to date.  Project scope is to design and build a 4-story, 70,000 GSF Annex E to Chase Hall (cadet barracks) to include support spaces and 150 berthing rooms.  RFP issued last week for additional retaining wall fencing, vehicle guard rail and misc. items in the building. Proposal received from contractor 30 July is under review.

Sector Long Island Sound, CT:  CONSTRUCT SECTOR COMMAND BUILDING, (01-X3874), (D/B, $8,410K, FY06 AC&I):  91% construction completed to date.  Project scope is to replace the existing 21,000 GSF Multi-Purpose Building with a new 27,800 GSF Sector Command Building.  Asbestos abatement of existing building completed on 2nd and 3rd floors.  Demolition contractor expected to mobilize next week.

STA Washington, DC:  CONSTRUCT COMMAND & CONTROL BLDG, (05-L02006), (D/B, $1,450K, FY05 AC&I):

73% construction completed to date.  Project scope is to design and construct a 4,100 GSF Command and Control Station Building on Bolling Air Force Base.  Contractor was terminated for default on 09JUN08.  An on site meeting with the bonding company, prospective take-over contractors, and FDCC representatives took place on 19JUN08.  The bonding company is evaluating bids from interested contractors and expects to award a contract soon.  The takeover agreement between the surety company and the Government has been drafted and is being evaluated by both parties.

STA Fire Island, NY:  WATERFRONT REHAB, (01-L00010, D/B, $1049K, FY07 AC&I), (01-P00264, D/B, $1,045K, FY07 AFC43):   99% (original) construction completed to date (mod work to start in July).  Project scope includes demolition or repair of various deteriorated waterfront structures and construction of new wave barrier, pier and bulkheads.  New fuel tank and shore tie from original contract will be installed week of 18AUG08.

CGC Mackinaw, Cheboygan, MI:  SITE IMPROVEMENTS, (09-364676), (D/B, $865K, FY06 AC&I Vessels):   100% construction completed to date (not including the storage building).  Project scope includes providing security fence with gate, flagpole, landscaping, replacement of existing storage building, and performing other miscellaneous site work.  Final inspection of all work except storage building conducted successfully on 06 DEC07.  Final inspection of the storage building conducted successfully on 16JUL08.  The Contractor is working on completing the remaining punch list items.

STA Marquette, MI:  Rebuild Boat Station, (09-L00002), (D/B, $6.0M, FY08 AC&I):  8% construction completed to date.  Scope of work is to construct a new Station building (7,500 GSF) and Boathouse (3,000 GSF) on land acquired from the City of Marquette which will co-locate new Station Building with the existing Station waterfront.  Designer submitted pre-final design drawings 25JUL08 that are under review.  The Contractor has placed the footings.  The foundation block walls have just begun.

Project is 75% complete. Project scope is to rebuild multi-mission Station Gulfport (26,000 GSF) and associated utilities, roadways, and parking facilities. Communications Tower is installed! Roof Overhang, Fascia, Boxed Eave, & Cornice – 100%, Exterior Stucco – 75%, Forming & Concrete Placement for Arcade Tie-In Beams – 70%, GWB Installation on 2nd Floor – 100%, GWB Finishing

ISC New Orleans, LA:  RECONSTRUCTION OF INTEGRATED SUPPORT COMMAND NEW ORLEANS, (32-L02001), (D/B, $75,937K, Hurricane Supplemental):

Project scope is to reconstruct approximately 130,000 GSF of buildings, waterfront facilities, and all associated utilities, roadways, security, and parking areas to house ISC NOLA functions and tenant commands on 26 acres at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility installation.  Field surveying and test piles continue, construction trailers installed, buildings pads grubbed, sand fill for Administrative Bldg. underway, hard road graveled.  Pile driving scheduled for 06AUG08.  Progress Mtg. No. 1 scheduled for 13AUG08.

SECTOR New Orleans: FULL OPERATING CAPABILITY (FOC), (08-390942), (D/B, $21,420K, Hurricane Supplemental):

The scope of the contract is to design and construct a new 46,000 GSF facility collocating the Sector Command Cadre, Command Center, Marine Safety Office, and Vessel Traffic Service under one roof.  Project includes all associated work including site work, utilities, roadways, security, and parking areas at the specified site adjacent to the Naval Support Activity (NSA) West Bank installation in New Orleans, LA.  Set-up of Construction Trailers scheduled for week of 28JUL08.  Dig Permit submitted to NSA Public Works Officer on 17JUL08 for Geo-Technical investigations and erection of Perimeter Fence to secure construction site and separate USCG Real Property.  Customer Meeting – 30JUL08, Pre-Design Kick-Off Meeting (w/KTR) – 31JUL08.

Reimbursable projects

 

USDA PLUM ISLAND, NY: UPGRADE POWER PLANT, (N32-0089), ($12.1M, USDA):  98% construction completed to date.  Project scope provides for new electrical feed from Long Island (LIPA) and emergency power generation capability via diesel generators for Plum Island. In addition project will provide steam generation capabilities via gas-fired boilers for Plum Island.  Diesel exhaust support redesign is on going. Following completion of exhaust support work retesting of generators will be conducted, with completion of emergency power testing to follow. Current projection for final completion is October 2008.

Sector Charleston, SC:   PROJECT SEAHAWK PHASE II & SCC, RENOVATE BLDG 681, (N32-0086), (D/B, $4011K, DOJ):   27% construction completed to date.  Phase II will provide 10,770 GSF of new second floor space in Bldg. 681 for Seahawk and USCG SCC, and renovate 2,500 GSF of first floor space.  Rescue 21 spaces completed.  Miscellaneous cleanup is being conducted, a pre-inspection discrepancy list is being finalized to release spaces to the customer.  Steel columns and bar joists installation for second story is complete.  Heavy rain has occurred with no progression of previous leaks.

Phase II Steel Work and Block Wall

 

Department of Homeland Security: NEBRASKA AVENUE COMPLEX, RENOVATE BLDG 19 & Construct BLDG 61, (N32-0109), (Bid/Build $18.4M, DHS):  31% construction completed to date. This project will renovate the existing 39,000 SF basement of Bldg 19 into secure office environment, demolish Bldg 61, and construct a new 7,200 SF below grade structure.   Excavation for Bldg 61 is complete (see photo).  Before concrete is poured the walls must be waterproofed. Waterproofing subcontractor has started installation.  Waterproofing inspector rejected some of the work and the waterproofing must be repaired in some places. The mat slab concrete pour is now scheduled for 16AUG08.  Contractor continues to install steel studs for office space in bldg 19; and some gypsum wall board work is starting.  Installing electrical conduits for branch circuits is ongoing.  HVAC piping is ongoing. VAVs (variable air volume) units installation should start 05AUG08.

Boston Lighthouse:  NEW ACCESS TO LITTLE BREWSTER ISLAND, (01-L03050), (D/B, $1.4M, NPS):  Project scope is to provide improved waterfront access to island.  Majority of structure fabrication work will be accomplished off site at fabrication shop in Maine.  Delivery and installation of structure will occur toward later part of contract performance period.  (Late August - Sept).  Pre-final design Submission received 17 July 2008.  Design review comments sent to contractor on 1 August. USCG FINCEN, Chesapeake VA:  PROVIDE 80 KVA UPS TO COMPUTER CENTER, (N32-0111) , (BID/BUILD $164K AFC30):  Project scope is to provide an additional 80KVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS) unit to FINCEN’s server room.  25% construction completed to date.  Contractor has installed interior conduit.  Proposed location or new UPS and panel schedule revision are under review. New UPS is expected week of 04AUG08.
