The National Kidney Foundation Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (NKF KDOQI ™)

The National Kidney Foundation Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (NKF KDOQI ™) or KDOQI ™ provides evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for all stages of chronic kidney disease and related complications. KDOQI expands the Dialysis Outcomes Quality Initiative or DOQI, a project begun by the National Kidney Foundation in 1997 and recognized throughout the world for improving the care of dialysis patients. There are 12 current sets of KDOQI guidelines.

More information about the Clinical Practice Guidelines
The Guidelines have been widely adopted in the United States and abroad and have been a stimulus for several national renal organizations to develop their own Guidelines. They have been translated into at least a dozen languages, have been the focus of numerous quality improvement activities, and have served as the basis for clinical performance measures developed by Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and other organizations.
