CAUTION

Michael Edward McAfee, a convicted felon, has been wanted since he escaped from the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls on May 18, 1999. McAfee was serving a 10-year sentence for grand theft at the time of his escape. While incarcerated, McAfee was a trustee and responsible for maintaining vehicles belonging to the State of South Dakota. He is believed to have fled in a state vehicle which was recovered in Omaha, Nebraska.

On June 10, 1999, McAfee was indicted for escape and grand theft by a Minnehaha County Grand Jury for the Second Judicial Circuit Court, State of South Dakota. McAfee was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution by United States District Court, District of South Dakota, and a federal warrant was issued for his arrest on August 1, 2000.
