CAUTION

Darrell Rene Copper is wanted for his alleged involvement in the attempted robbery of an armored car and the shooting of one of the armored car guards in Decatur, Georgia, on the morning of May 1, 2002. As one guard was unloading boxes of coins from the truck, two males were seen exiting the rear of a car which was parked in the bank's parking lot. The males approached the armored car guard with a shotgun and semi-automatic pistol and opened fire. The guard was shot in the chest with the shotgun and twice with the handgun. The second armored car driver returned fire from inside the truck, but missed the men. Before the men could get inside the armored car, the injured guard was able to crawl back inside the truck and the driver drove the car away from the scene.

While the gunfire was being exchanged, the driver of the parked car, later identified as Darrell Rene Copper, allegedly attempted to set fire to the parked car as a diversion.

In total, seven people were involved with this attempted robbery. All seven of these people have been identified and arrested with the exception of Darrell Rene Copper. He was indicted on January 16, 2003, in the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia, for violation of the Hobbs Act for armored car robbery and for conspiracy.
