Governor's Scholarship Programs

Important Information About the Governor's Scholarship Programs

Governor's Scholarship Programs awards were granted in 2000, 2001 and 2002. Eligible students received an award notification letter each year they were eligible to claim an award and had five years to claim the award. All 2000 unclaimed awards expired on June 30, 2005, all 2001 unclaimed awards expired on June 30, 2006 and all 2002 unclaimed awards expired on June 30, 2007. Though awards can no longer be claimed, funds in an existing account can be used until a student’s 30th birthday.

Students who previously claimed an award and have a balance in their Student Scholarship Account may request a withdrawal of their scholarship account funds to pay qualified educational expenses at an eligible educational institution. Use the Qualified Withdrawal Form to request payment directly to an eligible educational institution. Funds not used by a student’s 30th birthday will be forfeited to the State of California.

Note: If you already have a Student Scholarship Account, use the Qualified Withdrawal Form to request payment directly to an eligible educational institution, the Account Services Form to change your personal information or the Forfeiture of Funds Form to notify the Programs that you will not use funds in your Scholarship Account for any reason.
