The Mine Roof Simulator is used for realistic, full-scale testing of roof support structures such as longwall shields and cribs. A one-of-a-kind biaxial loading frame unit, the MRS can produce 3 million pounds of vertical force and 1.6 million pounds of horizontal force. Its large size and simultaneous vertical and horizontal loading capabilities make it unique.
