STEP 1. | Understand What FDA Purchases
The FDA Contract Office solicits bids and proposals and awards contracts
in the areas of research, studies, investigations, surveys, tests and
analyses of a scientific or medical nature, ADP services and equipment,
telecommunications contracts for any examination, survey, study, review,
analysis, or evaluation of a management type; and contracts for construction
and renovation projects. We are also involved in the purchase of laboratory animals; animal feed, bedding and cages; laboratory glassware, chemicals and supplies, drugs, pharmaceuticals and intravenous solutions; electronic components and supplies; plastic and metal rods, sheets and tubing; and hand tools, machine tools, x-ray equipment, scientific equipment, laboratory furniture and related equipment and supplies. Once FDA moves to its new location(s), requirements for janitorial services, trash removal, building and ground services, telecommunications, renovation and construction and electrical engineering should expand. |
STEP 2. | Call, write, or visit our Small Business Specialist (SBS) Office and/or
appropriate FDA Contract Liaison Center Coordinator(s). |
STEP 3. | Discuss your company capabilities and interests with the SBS and/or appropriate
Contract Liaison Center Coordinator. |
STEP 4. | Build relationships. |
STEP 5. | Request a Solicitation Mailing List Application (SF-129) from the SBS
Office. |
STEP 6. | Complete the SF-129 and return to the SBS Office. The form will provide
the information necessary for the SBS Office to place your company on the
bidder's mailing list for those items and services which you have indicated
interest and capability. Do not rely entirely on automatic receipt of solicitations.
Follow Step 6. below, if possible, and maintain contact with the SBS Office
and/or appropriate FDA Contract Center Liaison Officer(s). |
STEP 7. | By subscribing to and reading the Commerce Business Daily (CBD),
you will be informed of all proposed contract opportunities of $25,000
or more by the FDA in addition to all proposed acquisitions throughout
the federal government as well as all Federal contract awards of $500,000
or (construction $1 million) more, for the benefit of potential subcontractors. |
STEP 8. | Offer a Quality Product. |
STEP 9. | Be Able to Deliver. |
