Summary - Removal from the Code of Federal Regulations

On June 30, 1995, the Commission announced that it would no longer be publishing the Enforcement Policy within the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The Policy had been codified at 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C to provide widespread dissemination of the Commission's Enforcement Policy. To avoid any possible confusion, the Commission determined that it should no longer be published in the CFR, since the Enforcement Policy is a policy statement and not a regulation. Instead, the Commission began the practice of publishing the Enforcement Policy in its NUREG series publications (NUREG-1600) to provide widespread dissemination.
