Drug Abuse Prevention Through Family Intervention (PA 96-013)
Research has demonstrated a number of precursors to the initiation of substance abuse, many of which relate to risk and protective factors in the family. NIDA is calling for research to develop and test theory-based drug abuse prevention interventions to reduce risk factors and foster protective factors in families. The goal of such prevention interventions would be to lower risk factors, enhance protective factors, and prevent drug abuse behaviors.
For more information on programmatic issues, contact Dr. Rebecca Ashery, NIDA, 6001 Executive Blvd, Bethesda, Maryland 20892, (301) 443-6504. Internet: ra39b@nih.gov
