Encore Careers in the Federal Government
The war for talent is hitting the federal government hard, as more than one-third of the full-time permanent federal workforce gets ready to retire or leave in the next five years. To help address these critical talent needs, the Partnership for Public Service has launched the FedExperience pilot program with the U.S. Department of Treasury and IBM to match government's critical hiring needs with the talents of experienced, older workers.

It's Not Too Soon to Plan the Transition
In the July 17th edition of the Wall Street Journal, Max Stier, the president and CEO of the Partnership for Public Service, and Gary Ginsberg, an executive vice president of News Corp. who served on the Clinton transition team in 1992, advise presidential candidates on three things they should do to ensure the next presidency gets off to the right start.

Partnership Commends OPM Director Linda Springer
The Partnership for Public Service released the following statement in response to the resignation of Linda Springer, Director, U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly Honored at Benefit Gala
On June 24, the Partnership hosted its fifth New York City gala at Manhattan landmark Cipriani’s 42nd Street. The gala brought together more than 700 government leaders, business executives and stakeholders from the entertainment and nonprofit sectors to demonstrate their support for a vital federal government. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Theodore Roosevelt Award for the Advancement of Public Service to New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.

Congratulations to the Finalists of the 2008 Service to America Medals
On June 18, the Partnership hosted a Capitol Hill breakfast in Washington, D.C., to announce 29 finalists whose work represents the important contributions of all federal employees for the good of our nation and the global community. The finalists – chosen from nearly 500 nominations – represent two dozen federal agencies and hail from ten states, plus Washington, D.C., and Jerusalem, Israel.
