Unnamed Luna (Ye-1/3) Mission to Moon
Unnamed Luna (Ye-1/3):
Like the previous spacecraft in the Ye-1 series, this simple probe carried five scientific instruments. The goals of the mission were to study interplanetary matter, cosmic radiation and the magnetic fields of the Moon and Earth and then to impact on the lunar surface.

A main engine turbine failure doomed the mission. It failed to reach escape velocity and fell back to Earth about 245 seconds after launch.
