During the 29 day field experiment the ship encountered 4 episodes of
continental air with high radon and total particle concentrations.
These were generally on the back side of the high pressure systems which
brought flow off the Australian continent. During the remainder of the
month, the air masses sampled at the ship were typical of background
conditions with very low radon concentrations and a mean total (Dp>5nm)
particle number concentration of 500 particles/cc. On top of this
background were a number on instances of high ultra-fine (Dp = 5-20
nm) particle concentrations.
