Explosives Research and Development (ERD)
A function of ATF's explosives technology component is research and development. This research has involved the characteristics and effects of explosives and their identification and detection. Because of its research efforts, ATF is routinely called upon to assist in test protocols and experiments, and make presentations on its findings.
