United States Mint at Philadelphia Earns Excellence in Government Awards

PHILADELPHIA – On May 6, 2004, the United States Mint at Philadelphia received the “Excellence in Government” awards, presented by the Federal Executive Board (FEB). The FEB, which was established to improve coordination among Federal activities and programs outside Washington, recognizes through its annual awards ceremony the accomplishments of the Federal public servants in the Greater Philadelphia area. Those employees are honored for their exceptional performance before an audience of all Federal agencies and military commands in Philadelphia.

“We are proud of our colleagues. We recognize that their excellence and commitment to public service, their peers and their community make the United States Mint a great place to work,” said United States Mint Director Henrietta Holsman Fore.

This year, employees at the United States Mint at Philadelphia were selected from a pool of more than three hundred nominees. Minters placed as Gold Medal finalists, Bronze Medal winners, improved Federal Image winners, and also received two Community Service Awards. The following were recipients:

GOLD MEDAL FINALISTS -- Charles Krecko (Supervisory Rookie of the Year) and Sam Mac Ewan (Outstanding Trades and Crafts Performer)

BRONZE MEDAL WINNERS -- Sara Grega (Outstanding Clerical Performer) and Beatrice Stanton (Outstanding Clerical Performer)

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS -- Tanya Palmer, William Alexander, Elliot Eberhardt, James Jones, Stephen Jones, and Clarence Gillyard (Persons with Disabilities/Disabled Veterans Employment Program Committee)

Anita Craig, June Robinson, Tonya Nelson, Felicia Whittington, and Glennie Tynes (Federal Women’s Program Committee)
