OUR CHANGING PLANET
The U.S. Climate Change Science Program
for Fiscal Year 2007

A Report by the Climate Change Science Program and
The Subcommittee on Global Change Research
A Supplement to the President's Fiscal Year 2007 Budget

Figure 17.  Spring Trends in Recycling Ratio from 1979 to 2003
over the High Latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere.

OCP07-Fig-17

Red and blue shades indicate regions of statistically significant trends with a confidence level of 95%. Positive trends dominate over North America, with especially strong and widespread trends over Canada and Alaska. There are also strong positive trends over Scandinavia during spring and over Britain and much of north-central Europe during fall (not shown here). Trends are generally weaker and not as widespread over Asia, where in situ meteorological observations are much less dense. Credit: P.A. Dirmeyer and K.L.
