Introduction
16.1 This chapter describes the records of the modern Post Office and Civil Service Committee (created under the Legislative Reorganization Act of 1946), and the records of its predecessors, the Committees on Post Office and Post Roads (1808-1946), Civil Service (established as the Committee on Reform in the Civil Service, 1893-1946), and the Census (1901-1946). At the start of the 104th Congress in 1995 the Committee was largely absorbed by the Committee on Government Reform.
